Every fall, hunters in the Drumheller area get their equipment ready for deer season and more and more of them are using a bow instead of a rifle.
Now, they'll be able to stay in form at the first indoor archery range of its type in the area.
Jess Bruce speaks for 3B Archery, which is short for Badlands Bucks and Bows.
"We started out as a big buck club and now it's evolved into an archery club," he explained. "We have just over 20 (members) right now but it's growing, we're getting new membership all the time. There is a lot of bow hunters and people in archery in the area between Drumheller and Hanna and Stettler, the whole kind of block area."
So, what does he love about bow hunting as opposed to using firearms?
"You have to get closer to the animal and it's a little bit tougher hunt," he outlined. "It's a different challenge, it's early season so it just has a different draw to it."
"Our facility is almost ready to open in the Morrin Sportsplex; we're just on the side where the old Curling Rink used to be" Bruce added. "We've got an archery range going in there that's going to be opening shortly. It'll be 40 yards from the shooting platform to the back target."
Bruce said they were hoping to have the new archery range open this week, but it's been pushed back to next week.
