It was a fantastic competition for a Big Valley saddle bronc rider at the Calgary Stampede.

Zeke Thurston, who just celebrated his 23 birthday on Saturday (July 15) achieved a three-peat victory.

The Big Valley rider met up with an old friend, the Northcott Macza horse 'Get Smart' in the final four.

"Every jump I thought I was going to get bucked off. That horse bucks so hard, she kind of moves ahead and she really kicks hard. She's probably only 800 pounds, but that's probably one of the strongest horses I've ever been on and that's probably the fourth or fifth time I've been on her. That horse can buck you off any day of the week, I was just lucky to stay on," Thurston expressed.

Thurston is the first saddle bronc rider to notch a hat trick with the $100,000 paydays.

Congratulations, Zeke Thurston!
