Game Three of the Inter Pipeline AJHL series between the Calgary Canucks and your Drumheller Dragons went last evening in Calgary.

The Canucks were coming into the game off a high of defeating Drumheller in their home rink on Friday night, 3-2.  Drumheller was looking to answer back from that loss.

Drumheller opened the scoring at 5:33 on the power play when Slater Dykema scored his third goal of the playoffs from Bradley Stonnell and Brett Wieschorster.  The Canucks tied the game 1:15 later as Zach Webb scored his first of the post season from Chad Varney and Kyler Newman.  The Dragons regain the lead with 7:46 left in the first when Andrew Kartusch snapped a shot from the blue line that beat Canucks goaltender Kolby Matthews.  Brady Risk and Brett Edwards would get the assists on the goal.  The Dragons scored one more before the end of the period when Alex Rotundo scored his second of the playoffs from Jordan Taupert and Slater Dykema.

Both teams had their chances in the second period.  The Dragons had an opportunity on the man advantage and didn't pass it up.  Andrew Kartusch scored his second of the game from Brett Edwards and Brayden Nicholetts to make it 4-1 Drumheller.  The period would end with the Dragons in the lead but there was still hope for the Canucks.

That hope was dashed in the third.  The Dragons were on the penalty kill and Derrick Budz took the puck deep into the Calgary zone.  He had the puck behind the net and tried a wrap around to score but was stopped.  He continued to work and got a rebound in front and put it in the back of the net.  That was the momentum killer as the Dragons were up 5-1.  Drumheller would add three more goals by Alex Rotundo (3), Brett Edwards (1) and Brady Risk (1).  The final would be 8-1 Dragons and Drumheller would take the lead in the series two games to one.
