Your Dragons continued their home and home with the Brooks Bandits on Saturday at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks. The Dragons have not had much luck at the CRA in the regular season and that would continue tonight.
The first period would open with opportunities for both teams. Each team would have three power play opportunities but could not score. Daniel Allin, who got the start in goal for the Dragons, made some key saves in the period to keep it 0-0. According to the scorekeeper, the Dragons were outshot 15-3 but I believe we had more than 3 shots. It would remain tied at 0-0 going into the second.
Brooks would open the scoring in the second, 1:24 into the period, when Simon Boyks found a rebound in the slot to give the Bandits the 1-0 lead. Brooks would add to their lead 1:25 later when Randy Hernandez scored to make it 2-0 Bandits. The middle part of the period was a lot of neutral ice play with not many chances to score. The Dragons did get on the board with 1:54 left when Jordan Taupert scored his fifteenth of the year from Derrick Budz and Troy Dudley. Twenty-one seconds later, Brooks regained their two goal lead when Nathan Plessis scored to make it 3-1 Bandits.
In the third, the game could of gotten out of hand as the Dragons had to kill off a five minute major for fighting taken by Brayden Nicholetts. Drumheller killed the penalty and gained a little momentum from that. The Dragons had some good scoring chances in the third but could not score. The final would be 3-1 Brooks.
