Reeling off a loss on Friday night, the Dragons were hoping for a better fate on Saturday.  The Spruce Grove Saints made their only stop in at the Memorial Arena this season.

It was another battle of goaltenders in this game as Daniel Allin got the start for the Dragons and Matthew Davis for the Saints.  It was a big night as well for the team as it was "Parents Night", where all of the players' parents are in town to watch their children play.

The pressure may have gotten to the team early as Spruce Grove scored 3:39 into the game as Bruce MacGregor put the puck behind Allin to make it 1-0 Saints.  Drumheller had some good pressure but seemed to be fighting the puck.  Drumheller outshot Spruce Grove 9-7 but it remained 1-0 Saints after the first.dragonssaints2

In the second, it was similar to the first.  Drumheller put on pressure but could not solve Saints goalie Matt Davis.  Spruce Grove would add to their lead with 5:06 left in the period when Jacob Ashton scored on the power play to make it 2-0 Saints.  Spruce Grove outshot Drumheller 15-8.

In the third, Drumheller came out with some fight and controlled the puck well in the Spruce Grove zone.  Derrick Budz would get the lone Dragons goal, his eight of the year, from Aiden Yakimchuk.  Allin probably made one of the best saves of the year as he had the puck pop over his shoulder, he fell to the ice and pulled the puck off the line.  Drumheller would pull the goalie with 1:46 left in the game.  Spruce Grove player, Cam Mitchell blocked a laser from Dawson Bruneski and the puck ended up on the stick of Nick Leyer.  He fired it 150 feet to the empty net to make the final 3-1 Spruce Grove.
