Your Drumheller Dragons faced a formidable foe on Friday night in the Okotoks Oilers.  The Oilers sit 9 points ahead of the Dragons in second place going into the game.  A great opportunity for the Dragons.

Anything you work hard at, you usually get rewarded in the end.  That is what happened for the Dragons tonight.  Drumheller opened the scoring early in the first period at 1:44 when Derrick Budz scored his 17th of the season from Brady Risk and Kiano Robinson.  Drumheller would add to their lead near the midway point of the period when Shane Ott scored his 11th of the year from Eric Martin and Dawson Bruneski at 10:48.  Drumheller would end the period with a 2-0 lead and outshooting the Oilers 11-4.

The hard work continued for the Dragons and they were rewarded once again in the second.  At 9:12, Brady Risk would score his 22nd of the season from Shane Ott and Dawson Bruneski to make it 3-0 Dragons.  Just over a minute later, they would add another when Dawson Bruneski scored his 3rd on the year from Brady Risk and Shane Ott at 10:35.  Daniel Allin continued his shutout streak through five periods and Drumheller would lead 4-0 after two.

In the third, the Oilers would get on the board when Mark Pasemko scored on the powerplay from Ben Evanish at 3:19.  The Dragons would answer back with another goal at 6:50 when Brayden Nicholetts scored his 11th on a beautiful set up by Jordan Taupert and Hassan Akl.  The Dragons would score their sixth goal with just over ten minutes left in the game when Drumheller drove the net and brought the puck with them.  It fluttered over Okotoks goaltender Brady Parker and trickled in.  The puck was last touched by Derrick Budz, with his second of the game and 18th of the season.  With 14.6 seconds left, Okotoks Ethan Jamernik would score his first of the year to make it 6-2 Drumheller and that is how it would end.
