It's going to be a busy summer for road crews in the Special Areas around and east of Hanna.

"We're currently working on a surfacing project on Secondary Highway 855 from Highway 9 going north 14.5 kilometres," reported Owen Francis, Director of Municipal Services. "We're doing road construction on the Secondary Highway 586 from Highway 36 going east."

Some roads in the Drumheller Valley are a little bumpy after the winter with different sections settling by different amounts, but Francis doesn't think it's a problem in the Special Areas.

"Our roads came through the freeze-thaw cycle actually in quite good shape this year," he told 99.5 Drum FM. "We haven't found any extra maintenance required over normal years. We can focus on other projects when we're not having to address those problems."

"We're going to keep our Facebook page updated with weekly or bi-weekly updates on where the crews are working and how they're progressing on those projects," noted Francis.
