A bunch of bookworms in East Central Alberta are about to get their next fix from a local novelist.
Delia's Corinne Hewitt has just finished the second installment in her Abbington Pickets series. It's called 'Jacob's Place' and it's the sequel to 'Jacob of Abbington Pickets,' which was published just before Christmas 2015.
"I think it was accepted really well," opined the author. "Every book isn't for everybody, but generally speaking, I think people were excited about it and couldn't wait to read what was going to happen next: that's what my feedback was anyway."
Hewitt began the Abbington Pickets story to satisfy her long held desire to write a historical romance.
"It starts off with a young boy; a tragedy happens and it affects his whole life," she explained. "He falls in love and creates a new life for himself, but it's not an easy life. It's set at the turn of the century: Jacob is an honest, hard working, full of integrity kind of guy."
A book launch for 'Jacob's Place' will be held on November 21 at the Hanna Municipal Library at 7:00 p.m.
"I plan on doing more in the series," added Hewitt. "There's going to be I don't even know how many books; there's going to be more than three, maybe more than four."
