Some scary news coming out of Hanna today after a vehicle sideswiped a semi-tractor trailer.

A Chevy Avalanche was travelling westbound on Highway 9 near Junction 36 when the incident happened.

"It is still under investigation so we don't know the exact cause of it. But witnesses saw the Chevy Avalanche just drift across the center line and hit both set of axles on the semi trailer. It actually struck the front wheels, bounced off those, struck the back wheels and then it did a curl around the back of the semi and ended up on the other side in the ditch," explains Sargant Trent Sperlie of the Hanna RCMP.

The driver of the Avalanche was sent to Hanna Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The semi driver was not injured.

"We don't know the cause of things like this but, definitely, the big push right now is we are urging the driver to really pay attention. It only takes a quick second, if you are distracted by something in the vehicle, a quick second for something very tragic to happen," continued Sperlie.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.
