On Friday, March 1, 2019, the Drumheller Skating Club hosted their annual skating carnival. The Memorial Arena was decorated for a night of the skaters showcasing what they had been working on this season.

"It was fantastic, our attendance was up and the kids skated great," explained Koren McDougald, president of the Drumheller Skating Club.

The improvement in attendance was credited to the better weather than last year, as in 2018 there was a blizzard. The show's theme this year was Forests of the World.

"One of the skaters actually said they wanted to do something with forests and then our coaches got ahold of it and made it Forests of the World," continued McDougald.

Many of the fundraisers that the club had throughout the year made it really easy for them to make it through the year.

"We hope to see everybody back next year for the skating season. The Canskaters still have two more weeks to go. Next week is a test day, where they get tested on everything and the following week is our wrap up, so we will have a fun family skate and they will get all of their ribbons," concluded McDougald.

The club is very thankful for the many volunteers that they have throughout the year.
