A local resident that has been fundraising for cancer research in years past had another opportunity to help raise funds and have some fun while doing so.

Jamie Worman, a local car salesperson, had the chance to jump into the boxing ring to help raise funds for the Believe in Gold charity which raises funds for child cancer research.

Dekada Fight Like A Pro was hosted at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary on December 1st.  It provides a chance for two amateur boxers to fight for a belt in the same scenario that a pro boxer would have

Worman, who had no previous boxing experience, had to train hard to get to the proper weight for this fight.

"Training was pretty crazy, to be honest, everything from cardio to boxing to the way you're eating your diet is very very strict."

Cam Dobranski, Jamie's opponent, also had not been in a boxing ring prior to the event in Calgary.  Both fighters had similar reasons for the match. "First and foremost we did it because of the fundraising event", exclaimed Worman, "had an opportunity to raise a lot of money for a very good charity".

The fight went three one and a half minute rounds with Dobranski winning by decision.  From all accounts, it was the fight of the night.  "We were told multiple times from the owners of Dekada, the judges, the refs, people in attendance, people that heard about it, it was a war.  It was an absolute war", commented Worman.

Over 60 people from Drumheller traveled to Calgary to support Worman.

Jamie enjoyed both aspects of the event, the fundraising, and boxing.  The promoters have asked if Jamie would be willing to do it again and he is all for it.  It sounds as if there may be an event that Worman will be involved with that will possibly be bigger than this event.
