Due to deteriorating road conditions, Roper Road, on the north side of Rosedale, has been temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic on the descending section of the roadway between Starland County and the Town of Drumheller, effective immediately. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, including Highway 9 and Highway 576 or Highway 849, as appropriate.
Recent weather conditions have left the road structure fully saturated, creating unsafe driving conditions and increasing the risk of significant damage to the road surface if vehicle traffic continues. As a result, the roadway is currently impassable.
The closure will remain in effect until further notice. Road conditions will be monitored, and once weather conditions improve and crews are able to safely grade and restore the roadway, it will be reopened to vehicular traffic. Emergency services have been notified.
For additional information, please contact the Town of Drumheller at 403-823-6300 or info@drumheller.ca.
