One of the roughest roads in our community will soon have a new lease on life in the near distant future.
Railway Avenue between the Valley Plaza and Dollarama in downtown Drumheller was scheduled to be repaved this summer. Work began earlier this month with some concrete work on the sidewalks on both sides of the street in preparation of the paving project.
Earlier this week, the street was closed to traffic as the paving company came in to tear up the pavement. Looking at the street this morning (Friday, July 17th) they have taken the road down to the bare bones. Work will continue as long as weather permits and the hope is to have the new pavement in place by next week. The adjacent sidewalks remain open for pedestrians. The parking lots beside Dollarama and behind the Valley Plaza are also still accessible off of 3rd Street West, and all of the businesses remain open during construction.
