A young couple from Drumheller shared that their newborn had some heath issues which required the little one to stay in hospital and have surgery.
Being that the little one had to be in Calgary and then travel to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, it made things difficult for the family. A couple of people in our community stepped up to help raise some funds to assist the Jacques family in their time of need. Shari Christensen and Patti Richardson from Rustic Chic Flowers and Gifts came together to help. “We just wanted to help Dallas and Dailyn as much as we could with little baby Statton being in the hospital,” shares Richardson. “Just to help with expenses and for them not to stress about any kind of money issues.”
What they ended up doing was putting up a silent auction for not one, but two hand made quilts comments Richardson. “There were two quilts. The first quilt was a big blue one which was 80 by 100. The top bidder receive the blue one and Shari donated a year of free quilting. Koren McDougald had the top bid and the second quilt went to Wendy Nail. We raised a total of $5,100.
Richardson notes that the family is so appreciative of the support. “They are so overwhelmed by not just the quilt fundraiser, by everybody. Everybody has just reached out, donated, helping any way they can. We have the best community. When anybody is down, we help.
