UPDATE: As was mentioned in the story we published back on October 31st last year, the final day for the Scotiabank branch in the Valley Plaza was on Thursday, September 24th.
The location closed as of Thursday, with the signage being removed, the night depository being closed, and the bank machine no longer available. There were hopes that Scotiabank would be able to find a location for a bank machine within Drumheller, but that did not materialize. For those in need of banking services with Scotiabank, the nearest location would be Strathmore or Stettler.

A somewhat shocking announcement for customers of the Drumheller Scotiabank location has been posted at the branch and the customers have been notified.
The Drumheller branch of Scotiabank, located in the Valley Plaza will be closing.
In a statement from Scotiabank, they share “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to relocate our services at our Drumheller branch to our branch at Strathmore. This move will take place on September 24, 2026. With client preferences changing, and more day-to-day banking being done digitally, we are continuing to evolve how we serve our clients and invest in areas that make it easier for our clients to bank with us in multiple ways. We are communicating this change to all affected clients and will be working with them to ensure a smooth transition. Our teams in Drumheller and Strathmore are committed to assisting all clients with any questions they may have.”
We have also posed the question to Scotiabank about the possibility of keeping a Scotiabank bank machine within the community. “We don’t have an update at this time.
