It is looking like there are some changes in store for the Town of Hanna Town Council.
Earlier this year, Councilor Paul Hunter resigned his seat on Hanna Town Council. This created a vacancy in which a possible by-election would be required to elect a new councilor. Two people have put their names forward for the by-election which will happen on Monday, November 2nd. Both Sandra Murphy and Bill Paisley have decided to run in the by-election.
Earlier this month, another councilor in the Town of Hanna has handed in their resignation, Erica Rorabeck, She has shared through her letter of resignation that “the culture and working dynamics are not the right fit for me. While this has been a difficult realization, I believe stepping down is the best decision moving forward.”
Although there are two running for the vacancy left by Paul Hunter, unfortunately due to the timeline, there may have to be two by-elections to fill both vacancies on Hanna Town Council.
As was mentioned earlier, a by-election will take place on Monday, November 2nd. Advanced polls are today (Thursday, October 29th) from 12 noon to 3 PM at the Hanna Town Office. Polls on Election Day, Monday, will be at the Hanna Community Centre from 10 AM to 8 PM.
Identification is required for all voters.
As for the by-election for the vacancy due to the resignation of Councilor Roraback, a date for nominations and voting for said by-election has yet to be determined.
