On the evening of August 26, 2026, Hanna RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a residential property in the Hand Hills area. The complainant reported a door had been forced open and that multiple valuables had been taken from the home. Hanna RCMP attended the affected property and initiated an investigation.
On September 4, 2026, Hanna RCMP received a report of the theft of a large utility trailer from a residential property near Craigmyle. Hanna RCMP attended the affected property and conducted an investigation into the theft of the trailer, which was subsequently recovered.
On September 23, 2026, Hanna RCMP received a report of a break and enter to outbuildings and a holiday trailer that were located on the same property as the incident on August 26, 2026. Hanna RCMP investigated this incident as well.
As a result of the investigations, 21-year-old Cortney Closs of Starland County has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence and one count of theft over $5,000 in relation to the utility trailer.
Closs is to appear in court on November 25, 2026.
